Work and Witness Mission Trip to Africa January 2013

Trip Date: January 21 - February 4, 2013

Their Church:

The Awendo Church is in Kenya's Lake Victoria District in the town of Kisumu.  The church has 50 members.  The congregation is made up of 15 children, 15 youth and 50 adults.  The church is growing fast and serves about 5 communities and also runs a daycare.  Awendo's building is temporal and small with mud floors and walls.  During the dry seasons the church becomes filled with dust when the congregation sings and dances for the Lord during services.  This dust affects the young children and elderly.

Our Church:

Our team will work alongside people from the congregation for 7 days to build a permanent church building.  Also in that time the team will work with children from the community through Sunday school games and teachings.  On our first Sunday we will have the opportunity to attend a local church service.

Travel:

We will fly Delta Airlines from Seattle to Nairobi with a short layover in Amsterdam.  We'll spend the night in Nairobi and then fly or drive to Kisumu the next day.  Once the work is done we'll go on a 2 night, 3 day safari.  The safari includes a safari vehicle with a pop up viewing roof and a luxyry tented camp or a lodge.  We will spend the last night back in Nairobi and then make our way home.

• Airfare - $1900
• Ground costs - $400
• Visa - $50
• Safari - $400

Total Cost: $2750

A $250 deposit will be due by July 1st for all that are intersted in going.  The funds will be used to reserve the airfare.  A payment plan will be set up for the remaining balance.
